Thursday, April 28th at 6:15pm for a book signing event in the Arthur C. Banks, Jr. Library at Capital Community College. Abi Rodriguez is a Capital student who has had two books of poetry published. He
will be in the library visiting with students, faculty and staff.
In addition to the two Books: “The Stage Of Martyrdom”, “The Rose Colored Glasses”, Abi has an extensive portfolio of writing. He has lived in and around Hartford for 17 years and calls it home.
At the event, Abi spoke about his life and the 20 years of writing which is now culminating into a burgeoning career as his second book is published and third is shortly on the way.
He spoke of his 2nd book’s connection to the College, where he typed and prepared it. He allowed for audience members to choose excerpts from his two books which he read and answered follow up questions.
The event was fun and inspiring; an overall success and we look forward to having more in the future.

Hartford Community Leaders and the Greater Hartford Community come together for a Job and Housing Workshop on 11/22/14 at the Hartford Public Library 500 Main Street Hartford, CT. There were over 200 community residents in attendance who volunteered, participated and partners. This community based employment and housing workshop was designed to assist job seekers in their search for employment and housing.
The day’s events consisted of workshops aimed at sharpening the necessary skills for successful job retention—including but not limited to; resumes, interview skills, dressing for success and self-advocacy and housing. Additionally, we hope that the workshop helped build some momentum and understanding around 21st century learning and opened up some options for further collaborations and partnerships around violence prevention work. We all learned a great deal from listening to each other’s ideas, reactions and suggestions, and we look forward to using the preliminary results from this workshop in our work moving forward.
